Saint Justin was a second-century philosopher born in Flavia Neapolis in Samaria who searched through the great schools of philosophy before finding the fullness of truth in Christ. He became one of the Church's first great apologists, writing works such as the First Apology and the Dialogue with Trypho to explain and defend the Christian faith. He taught in Rome, where he was arrested for his faith and beheaded around the year 165.
Justin shows us that faith and reason are friends, and that an honest, searching mind can lead a person to God. He loved the truth enough to follow it wherever it led, and finally to give his life for it, bearing witness with calm courage before his judges.
