Valerian, the husband of Saint Cecilia, and his brother Tiburtius were Roman noblemen converted to Christianity through Cecilia's witness in the third century. Together with Maximus, an official moved to faith by their courage, they were martyred in Rome and buried along the Via Appia, where the early Church honored their memory on April 14.
Their story shows how faith spreads quietly through love — one heart kindling another, within a family and then beyond it. They remind us that gentleness and conviction together can be stronger than fear, and that those who love God are never truly separated, even by death.
Lord, who drew Tiburtius, Valerian, and Maximus to Yourself through the witness of love, keep our family united in faith, and bring us all one day to the joy where those we love are waiting. Amen.
