Crispin and Crispinian were brothers who were martyred during the reign of Emperor Diocletian in the late 3rd century. They were Roman noblemen who preached the Christian faith in Soissons, France, and supported themselves by making shoes. They were eventually arrested, tortured, and beheaded for their faith.
Their example shows us the dignity of labor and the importance of living out our faith in our daily work. They were not only evangelists but also diligent craftsmen, demonstrating that all honest work can be offered to God. Their perseverance in the face of persecution reminds us to stand firm in our beliefs.
O God, who gave Saints Crispin and Crispinian the courage to proclaim your Gospel and endure martyrdom, grant us through their intercession to labor faithfully and to remain steadfast in our faith. Amen.
