Aquila and Priscilla were a married Jewish couple, tentmakers by trade, who left Rome after the emperor Claudius expelled the Jews and met Saint Paul in Corinth, where he lived and worked alongside them. They became his devoted co-workers in the Gospel, instructing the eloquent preacher Apollos in Ephesus and hosting a church in their own home. Saint Paul greets them warmly in his letters, saying they risked their own necks for his life.
Aquila and Priscilla show that holiness flourishes in ordinary life — in a marriage, a workshop, a home opened to others. They served God not from a pulpit but through hospitality, quiet teaching, and faithful friendship, reminding us that a family's love can itself become a little church.
Lord Jesus, who made the home of Aquila and Priscilla a shelter for your Church, make our homes places of welcome, faith, and love, and keep those we cherish always close to you. Amen.
