Stephen

Saint Stephen was one of the first seven deacons chosen by the Apostles to serve the early Christian community in Jerusalem. He was known for his faith and wisdom, and he performed great wonders and signs among the people. Stephen became the first Christian martyr when he was stoned to death for his preaching, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.

Stephen's example teaches us about courageous witness to faith, even in the face of persecution. He forgave his executioners, mirroring Christ's love and mercy. His life calls us to serve others and to stand firm in our convictions.

Almighty God, grant us the grace to imitate the steadfast faith and charity of Saint Stephen. May we, like him, bear witness to the truth and love our enemies, through Christ our Lord.
