Pio of Pietrelcina

Born Francesco Forgione, he joined the Capuchin Franciscans and became a priest. He was known for his piety, charity, and receiving the stigmata, the wounds of Christ, which he bore for fifty years. Padre Pio spent much of his life in San Giovanni Rotondo, where he served as a spiritual director and confessor.

Saint Pio's life exemplifies profound faith and selfless service to God and humanity. He taught the importance of prayer, penance, and the sacraments, guiding countless souls to a deeper relationship with Christ. His unwavering devotion and endurance of suffering for the sake of others serve as a powerful inspiration.

Saint Pio, you were a channel of God's grace and mercy; help us to embrace suffering with faith and to serve Christ in others. Guide us to a life of prayer and penance, that we may grow closer to God.
