Saint Martina was a virgin martyr of Rome, venerated since ancient times and traditionally said to have given her life for the faith in the third century, during the persecutions of the Roman Empire. Her relics were rediscovered in 1634, and she is honored at the church of Santi Luca e Martina near the Roman Forum, where she is venerated as a patroness of the city of Rome.
Martina reminds us that faithfulness is possible even when everything around us presses us to let go of what we believe. Her quiet, steadfast witness — remembered by the Church for centuries — shows that a life given wholly to God is never forgotten, even when the world's records fade.
