Margaret (c. 1045–1093) was an English princess raised partly in exile in Hungary who became queen of Scotland through her marriage to King Malcolm III. As queen she was known for her deep prayer life, her generosity to the poor and orphans, and her work renewing the life of the Church in Scotland. She died in Edinburgh in 1093 and was canonized in 1250.
Margaret shows that holiness can flourish in the middle of family life and daily duty — she raised eight children, served her country, and still made room every day for prayer and for the poor at her table. Her example reminds us that a gentle, faithful love, practiced quietly at home, can shape generations.
