Saint Luke, a physician by profession and a companion of Saint Paul on his missionary journeys, wrote the Gospel that bears his name and the Acts of the Apostles. Tradition holds he was a Gentile convert from Antioch, and his Gospel gives special attention to Mary, to the poor, and to God's mercy toward the suffering and the outcast.
Luke shows us how to look at the world with the eyes of a healer — noticing the sick, the grieving, and the forgotten, and telling their stories with tenderness. His careful, faithful witness reminds us that quietly recording and sharing God's goodness is itself a work of love.
