Saint Josemaría Escrivá was born in Barbastro, Spain, in 1902 and was ordained a priest in 1925. In 1928 he founded Opus Dei, dedicated to helping ordinary people seek holiness through their everyday work and family life. He died in Rome on June 26, 1975, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.
He taught that holiness is not reserved for a few, but that daily duties done with love can become a path to God. His example reminds us that ordinary life — work, study, caring for family — can be sanctified when offered to the Lord with a generous heart.
Lord, through the intercession of Saint Josemaría, help us find You in the ordinary moments of each day, and turn our daily work and love into a quiet offering of praise. Amen.
