Saint John of Matha was a French priest who, after his ordination, felt called to a special mission. He had a vision during his first Mass that inspired him to dedicate his life to the redemption of Christian captives from slavery. He co-founded the Order of the Most Holy Trinity for the Redemption of Captives (Trinitarians) with Saint Felix of Valois.
