John of Capistrano

Born in Capistrano, Italy, in 1386, John was a lawyer and governor before becoming a Franciscan friar. He was a student and disciple of Saint Bernardine of Siena and became a renowned preacher throughout Europe.

Saint John of Capistrano is an example of someone who completely changed the direction of his life to serve God. His zeal for preaching and his efforts to promote unity and reform within the Church inspire us to be ardent in our faith and to work for peace.

Saint John of Capistrano, you left a worldly career to serve God with all your heart. Help us to discern God's will for our lives and to follow it with courage and devotion.
