Saint Francis Caracciolo (1563–1608) was an Italian priest from Abruzzo who, after recovering from a grave illness in his youth, gave his life entirely to God. With John Augustine Adorno he founded the Clerics Regular Minor, a community devoted to perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and humble service to the poor and the sick. He died on June 4, 1608, and was canonized in 1807.
Francis spent long hours before the Eucharist, often through the night, saying his heart found rest only close to the Lord. He shows us that quiet, faithful presence — simply staying near God, especially in sorrow — is itself a powerful prayer, and that love is proven in humble, hidden service.
Lord Jesus, as Saint Francis Caracciolo found peace in Your presence, draw us close to Your heart, and keep those we love and miss forever in Your care. Amen.
