Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938) was a Polish nun of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy who received visions of Jesus and recorded them in her Diary. Through her, the message and image of Divine Mercy spread throughout the world. She was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000, and her optional memorial was added to the General Roman Calendar in 2020.
Faustina shows that God entrusts great things to the humble and hidden — she was a poorly educated sister doing kitchen and garden work, yet became the messenger of God's boundless mercy. Her simple trust, summed up in the words 'Jesus, I trust in You,' teaches us to bring every sorrow and fear to the Heart of Christ.
Jesus, through the intercession of Saint Faustina, teach us to trust in Your mercy in every darkness, and to be merciful to others as You are merciful to us. Amen.
