Saint Bibiana was a young virgin martyr of Rome, honored by the Church since ancient times as one who gave her life for Christ in the fourth century. Devotion to her is very old: a basilica in Rome has borne her name since the fifth century, and it was later rebuilt with a facade by Bernini, where her relics rest to this day.
Bibiana was young when she stood firm in her faith, and the Church has never forgotten her. She reminds us that a short life lived close to God is not a small life, and that heaven holds fast those the world lost too soon.
Saint Bibiana, faithful in suffering and beloved of God, pray for us and for all children gone home to Him, that we may hold fast to hope until we are together again.
