Saint André Bessette (1845–1937) was a Holy Cross brother in Montreal, Canada, who served for decades as a humble doorkeeper at Notre Dame College. Known for his deep devotion to Saint Joseph, he welcomed the sick and troubled who came to him, and countless healings were attributed to his prayers. He founded Saint Joseph's Oratory on Mount Royal and was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
Brother André had little education, poor health, and the lowliest job in his community, yet God worked wonders through his simple faith and welcoming heart.
