Saint Anastasius I was the Pope from 399 to 401 AD. He condemned Origenism and was praised by his contemporaries, including Saint Jerome, for his holiness and poverty. He was a friend of Saint Augustine and Saint Jerome.
His brief pontificate was marked by a firm defense of the Church's doctrine against heresy. He reminds us of the importance of upholding truth and tradition, even in challenging intellectual climates.
O God, who made Saint Anastasius I a faithful shepherd of your Church, grant that through his intercession, we may always cling to the truth of the Gospel and live lives worthy of our calling. Amen.
