Saint Willibald (c. 700–787) was an English monk, brother of Saints Winebald and Walburga and a kinsman of Saint Boniface. As a young man he made a long pilgrimage to Rome and the Holy Land, one of the earliest recorded by an Englishman, and his travels were later written down by the nun Huneberc. He joined Saint Boniface's mission in Germany and became the first bishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria, where he served for over forty years.
Willibald shows us that faith is a journey walked with patience — he crossed the known world seeking Christ, then spent decades quietly building up one small corner of God's Church. His life reminds us that great holiness often looks like long faithfulness: showing up, year after year, in love and service.
