Saint Benjamin was a deacon in fifth-century Persia during a time of fierce persecution of Christians. Imprisoned for his faith, he was released on the condition that he stop preaching the Gospel, but he could not stay silent about Christ and continued to teach openly. For this he was martyred around the year 424.
Benjamin shows us a love for God so deep that no threat could quiet it; his voice belonged to Christ, and he gave everything rather than hold it back. His courage reminds us that faithfulness is not measured by ease but by love that endures suffering with hope in the resurrection.
