Saint Brigid (c. 451–525) was an abbess in early Christian Ireland who founded the famous monastery of Kildare, a double community of nuns and monks that became a great center of faith and learning. She is honored alongside Patrick and Columba as one of the three patron saints of Ireland, remembered above all for her boundless generosity to the poor.
Brigid gave away whatever she had — food, milk, even her father's possessions — trusting that God would always provide more, and her open hands became a sign of God's own abundance. She shows us that a heart set on mercy is never emptied, and that hospitality and kindness can build a home where heaven feels near.
